High School and Middle School Youth gather weekly for a time of devotion, discussion, and free time. Dig into weekly themes in small groups and see where the conversation leads. What: What does the Bible say? In a world where there are so many voices and so-called ‘authorities’, it is more important than ever to go to the source of all wisdom and goodness: God’s Word. So What: What does it mean? Now that you have read from the Bible, it is important to understand what it means. Is it telling you to do something or is it telling you about something that God has done for you? Now What: What can I do with it? You have read. You have discussed what it means. Now how can you respond? Does this change how you see yourself? Does this change how you see and treat others? Grow in faith and relationship alongside other Youth and Adult Leaders. Each night concludes with a time of fellowship. Snacks, treats, and drinks available.
Sundays 5:00-7:00pm | Gym (Koinonia Hall) | September – June
High School Hang Out
High School Youth have an opportunity to ‘hang out’ each week. Enjoy board games, a game room (equipped with foosball, billiards, and table tennis), open gym, movies, or just relaxing on couches. Snacks, treats, and drinks available.
Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm | High School Youth Room (Koinonia Hall) | September – June
Beginning in 6th Grade (though older Youth and Adults are welcome and encouraged), Youth are eligible to participate in our Confirmation Ministry. Participants study the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism as they explore the foundation of Christian faith and what it means to live as a follower of Christ. Through a self-paced, modular program, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of key principles, get involved with the faith community here at St. John Lutheran Church, and reflect on their experiences. Though the program is highly individualized in nature, Confirmation Workshops provide weekly opportunities for participants and mentors to come alongside one another in community to discuss and grow together as disciples. The program culminates in a participant’s confession of faith before the congregation through the Rite of Confirmation and a personal faith statement. Upon completion of the program, participants will be equipped to continue as active members of this faith community, including the ability to become mentors to others in the program. Participants spend time in three primary areas: I. Catechism (01. the Ten Commandments, 02. the Apostles’ Creed, 03. the Lord’s Prayer, 04. the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, 05. Confession, and 06. the Sacrament of the Altar), II. Christian Living (07. Worship, 08. Prayer, 09. Study, 10. Service, and 11. Fellowship), and III. Confirmation (12. the Rite of Confirmation).
Sundays @ 9:45-10:45am | Middle School Youth Room (Koinonia Hall) | September – April
