Bible Study

High School Youth (9th – 12th Grade) are invited to participate in Bible Study on Sunday mornings. Our hope for this time is that Youth will be able to engage in relevant content through the reading of God’s Word and conversation with their peers on a regular basis. Questions are encouraged, so we can seek answers together.

Sundays @ 9:45-10:45am  |  High School Youth Room (Koinonia Hall)  |  September – May

Confirmation

Beginning in 6th Grade (though older Youth and Adults are welcome and encouraged), Youth are eligible to participate in our Confirmation Ministry. Participants study the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism as they explore the foundation of Christian faith and what it means to live as a follower of Christ. Through a self-paced, modular program, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of key principles, get involved with the faith community here at St. John Lutheran Church, and reflect on their experiences. Though the program is highly individualized in nature, Confirmation Workshops provide weekly opportunities for participants and mentors to come alongside one another in community to discuss and grow together as disciples. The program culminates in a participant’s confession of faith before the congregation through the Rite of Confirmation and a personal faith statement. Upon completion of the program, participants will be equipped to continue as active members of this faith community, including the ability to become mentors to others in the program. Participants spend time in three primary areas: I. Catechism (01. the Ten Commandments, 02. the Apostles’ Creed, 03. the Lord’s Prayer, 04. the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, 05. Confession, and 06. the Sacrament of the Altar), II. Christian Living (07. Worship, 08. Prayer, 09. Study, 10. Service, and 11. Fellowship), and III. Confirmation (12. the Rite of Confirmation).
