What is CBI?

Officially started in 2016 by our sister congregation in Hood River, Oregon, Child Beyond International began a children’s home in San Cristobal, Guatemala. The home has provided 24-hour care, love and respite for dozens of children who have suffered from abuse, neglect and trauma. Children receive all their basic needs, in addition to education and a profound experience with the love of Jesus.

Now, CBI draws on the other churches to send teams in short stints to help support the children’s home as well as local families in need, helping to create better situations for families and children through the creation of homes and stoves.

Lift a child

In January, we were challenged to adopt one little girl living in Guatemala, at the Child Beyond International children’s home. They are helping her onto a new trajectory for life and we get to join in. We were challenged to be a rescuing congregation, finding 22 households who would sponsor her for a year, and 23 sponsorships were received.

2023 short term mission trip

From July 23-30, 2023, we are partnering with Good Shepherd Lutheran to send a team of servants to San Cristobal. There, they will be able to construct homes and stoves for local families in need, connected with CBI. Additionally, they will have a chance to connect with, meet and serve the children in the children’s home.
