Ministry Teams within our Congregation

Discipleship Ministry Team – This is a team of spiritually mature people, ready to teach and mentor others in the Scriptures. Team members will be ready to lead Bible study lessons, assist with new member instruction, and mentor confirmands (youth and adult). The team will assist the church staff in finding curriculum and creating, refreshing, and equipping leaders to lead lessons in classes at church and in-home small groups. When creating the menu of Bible study opportunities, we will pay special attention to helping disciples at St. John study the whole counsel of God and receive it from resources that are faithful to the Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions.

Visitation Ministry Team – As many of our members find themselves unable to be with the Church, this is an opportunity for the Church to go out to them. The team will coordinate and execute “care and prayer” visits to each of our homebound members (in private homes, adult foster homes, and care facilities), and a monthly visit that includes the Word and Sacrament. We will also keep the pastor(s) and staff informed about these members’ spiritual care needs and inform the pastor(s) of members who need a pastoral visit. We will also be available for hospital visits and in-home care visits, as directed by the pastor and staff, to extend their reach and ensure our people know they are cared about, prayed for, and encouraged with God’s Word.

Worship Support Ministry Team – Most worship services need the support of volunteers who help the pastor and staff to bring God’s Word and Sacrament to the congregation. This team will see to the ongoing need for ushers, readers, Communion assistants, acolytes, A/V techs, Altar Guild support. Team members will help our ministers by seeking volunteers, accounting for those volunteers at each service, and communicating with them about any special instructions for that service.

Campus Improvement Ministry Team – We are blessed with property resources, so we can enjoy them and leverage them to equip church members for mission and to bless the community. This team will create a plan for (and oversee) the improvement of our property (land, buildings, technology, furnishings). They will be empowered to enter into contracts (up to a certain financial value) and create action teams as necessary.

Finance Ministry Team – God provides financial resources for the congregation’s mission, care for our workers, and advancement of our campus. This team will encourage the congregation to invest in this work with offerings that exercise their faith. The team will also advise in the budgeting process, and assist staff with accounting for offerings and stewarding these resources for their best possible use.
