Serve within the Community
As stated in our mission statement, we believe that God calls his people to be servants and a light to the local communities and neighborhoods to which he has called us. St. John supports several local initiatives and organizations here in Clark County to bless and serve the vulnerable and those in need right here in Vancouver. Below you will information regarding the primary ways we engage as the hands and feet of Christ in our community.
-
Family Promise of Clark County aims at eliminating child homelessness in Clark County. This is one of our largest missions as a church; for more information, check out our designated Family Promise page HERE.

On the last Friday of every month, June through September, we partner with the Clark County Food Bank to host a Food Fresh drive for our local community. At Food Fresh, members of the community can come to St. John to receive a variety of fruits, vegetables and other foods. Volunteers assist setting up, greeting guests and loading/unloading trucks and pallets.
If you are interested in serving Food Fresh, reach out to Jim HERE.

Throughout the year, we partner with SHARE Vancouver to provide food, backpacks and school supplies for kids in need here in Clark County. Our primary collection drive occurs prior to the beginning of the school year, but there are a variety of ways to serve, donate and give throughout the year. You can also find an ongoing SHARE men's clothing drop off in our Main Hallway.
If you are interested in serving, reach out to Connie here!

Each year around the Christmas season, we partner with Young Lives, Open House Ministries and Family Promise to provide gifts and day-to-day items for those in need in the community. Individuals can tag a "Giving Tag" from a tree, purchase the items on the tag, and deliver them back to the church. Individuals also can serve by organizing the trees and tags, sorting and delivering.
If you are interested in serving, reach out to Doris HERE.

We have free food kits and hygiene kits available in our church office. We encourage all our people to keep some of these kits in their car to pass out to those in need, whether someone you know or someone you pass by on the side of the street.
If you would like to pick up some of these kits, drop by our church office between 8:30-4PM.

Every Wednesday morning, from 9-11:30AM, our Dorcas Sewers gather in the Lower Level to sew and create beautiful quilts. These quilts are then distributed throughout the community in a variety of ways, including as Baptismal gifts, guests in Family Promise and more.
If you are interested in more information or would like to get involved, reach out to Barb HERE.

We have a variety of ways in which we partner with our local neighborhood school, Sarah J Anderson Elementary: summer meals program, lunch buddies, field day volunteers, furniture delivery & assistance, donations and more!
