First Communion Class
Preparation for holy communion
Holy Communion - also referred to as the Lord’s Supper and the Eucharist - is a Sacrament in our Church. In addition, it is a central aspect of our life and worship as a congregation. We believe that Holy Communion is a Sacrament and Means of Grace, in which Jesus’s body and blood are really present in, with and under the bread and wine. Thus, partaking in Communion is tremendous gift of Christ to his church, in which his people get to encounter him and receive the forgiveness of sins.
Scripture also cautions Christians to partake in Communion wisely, taking time to prepare themselves before sharing in the meal. As such, we offer a First Communion class for all students in grades 3 and up to be prepared to receive Communion.
First Communion Class consists of five session - 5:30-7PM - on Wednesday evenings, beginning on October 30 and concluding November 20. Students who complete the class will be able to receive their First Communion on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday November 27 (Eucharist, one of the names for Communion, means “Thanksgiving.”) Parents are strongly encouraged to attend each class with their student. A light meal will be provided each week.
