On Transfiguration Sunday, as we reflected on Jesus’ incredible, glorious transformation, and Peter’s conclusion that “we have something more sure, the prophetic word” (2 Peter 1:19), Pastor Brian invited us to approach the season of Lent with “our ears wide open.” May this be a season where we can listen again and anew to the words of our crucified and risen Savior.

Throughout the season, we will be utilizing resources from Dr. Reed Lessing’s series Blessed Be the Name of the Lord, which walks through the book of Job. In addition, in keeping with our “ears wide wide” posture, we have compiled some podcast resources for you to explore throughout the season.

1517 Publishing’s 40 Minutes in the Old Testament podcast walked through the book of Job in 2023-2024. Below you will find a Spotify playlist featuring all of those Job-focused episodes, as well as a suggested weekly outline with links to each episode on the 1517 website. While these talks may discover different emphases or nuances than the topics we dive into during worship, we pray that the deeper study of this incredible book will be edifying to you.

If your family is looking for another resource to add a listening-style devotional practice to your time together, Lutheran Hour Ministries regularly offers a Gospel Adventures podcast for young kids. While this podcast does not have a Job-focus, it can be a fun resource to add to your family’s devotional practices in this season and beyond.
